You can support older people in Wales through fundraising
Whether you’re an individual, belong to a group or are a business there are lots of ways you can get involved in fundraising.
If you would like more information about fundraising for Care & Repair please email jack.bentley@careandrepair.org.uk
How much do you spend on things you don’t really need? How about giving up sugar, tea, coffee, smoking, drinking alcohol, buying clothes, or driving to work? You can then either donate the money you save or get friends and colleagues to sponsor you, or both!
Do you have a wardrobe or cupboard full of clothes you don’t wear anymore? You’re not alone, most people have far more than they need. Why not get together with some friends and organise a clothes swap. It’s a fun way to raise money and refresh your wardrobe at the same time.
From sponsored walks and runs, to family fun cycle rides, mountain climbing, surfing, swimming and mud snorkelling there are plenty of opportunities to take on a personal challenge.
Everyone needs a carwash from time to time. You could ask friends, colleagues, neighbours or even try the car park at your local supermarket. All you need is a bucket and a sponge!
Holding a quiz is a fun way to fundraise. It doesn’t have to be in the pub, you could hold it at your local community centre or even in your own home. Make a small charge to take part and offer prizes to the winning team. Guaranteed to get people fired up and wanting to win!
Who remembers Bob A Job or Strive for Five? Why not offer to run errands or clean for someone and ask for a donation
Recycling what we don’t want helps us to de-clutter our lives, is good for the environment and is an easy way to raise a few pounds to make improve the quality of life for older people.
It’s good for your health, it’s a chance to meet new people, it’s enjoyable and it’s free. How about organising a sunset walk with a group of friends? Take in a stunning view at the same time as raising awareness and helping to build a Wales where all older people can choose to live independently in homes that are warm and safe.
Hold a lunch club where staff are invited to cook and bring in their lunch in return for a donation. You could theme your lunch club e.g.: food from around the world.
It doesn’t matter what the event is a sweep stake is fun and easy to organise. We can provide a template; all you have to do is get your friends or colleagues to pay a couple of pounds to take part and then you can give half of what you make to the winner and half to Care & Repair.
