How will my gift be used?

Every gift, no matter the size, will help support vulnerable older people in Wales. Gifts will support them to remain living safely and independently at home and in the communities they love. Legacy gifts and other funding help us support 45,000 households every year. Without this support, many older people would face leaving their homes for care settings or suffering serious falls that require hospital treatment.

Can you provide legal advice about making a Will?

No, we’re unable to provide legal advice and would always encourage you to speak to a solicitor or will writing professional.

I’ve already made a Will. Do I need to make a new one?

No, you don’t need to make a new will if you already have one. You can simply complete a codicil form stating the amendment/s you’d like to make and then send it to your solicitor. A codicil is a document which allows you to make changes or additions to an existing Will and must be read in conjunction with it. We recommend discussing this with a solicitor or will writing professional.

Do I need to consider any Inheritance Tax implications?

Gifts in wills to registered charities are exempt from Inheritance Tax, meaning the value of your charitable gift is usually deducted from your estate before any Inheritance Tax is calculated. However, Inheritance Tax rules can change, so it is always best to discuss your Will and the type of gift you would like to leave with your chosen solicitor.

What wording should I use in my Will to leave a gift to Care & Repair?

If leaving a gift in your Will to us and you choose to use one of our trusted partners Farewill or Free Wills Network, then you can be assured the right wording will be provided to you making the process as easy and simple as possible. If you’re using a Solicitor or Will Writing professional, then you’ll need to ensure you pass the information below to them.
