About the role

The successful candidate will assist the Policy & Research team. Working alongside the Policy Manager, you will lead on and support various pieces of research to develop the organisation’s policy asks. You will gain experience of influencing work, engagement with the Welsh Government and Senedd including Members, Cross-Party Groups and Committees, and develop expertise and best practice for helping older people to live in safe, warm, accessible homes across Wales.

Key Tasks:

  • Developing knowledge and expertise of the housing problems faced by vulnerable older people and utilising this to support the PoM and C&RC in policy and representation work.
  • Undertake policy research and development work to highlight the housing needs of older people and appropriate housing solutions and resources to meet those needs.
  • Monitor, analyse, and anticipate the changing Welsh and UK policy and political environment relevant to older people, housing, fuel poverty and home energy efficiency, health, social care and third sector.
  • Support the PoM in preparing Care & Repair Cymru responses to Welsh Government and UK Government policy, legislation and other consultations, working closely with C&RC staff and Care & Repair Agencies to ensure key service issues and impacts on older people are included.
  • Attend and represent CRC at policy and research events including Cross Party Groups, third sector alliance meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences.
  • Identify and develop good working relationships and strategic partnerships with relevant organisations, networks and individuals.
  • Research and write clear, concise, contemporary policy content for internal and external publications including C&RC website, social media, print media, briefing papers, press releases, leaflets, fact sheets etc.
